The Koung-Kogar feud appears far from being over as Senator Samuel Kogar turns his back on efforts by some chiefs and elders of Nimba to mediate peace between him and Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung. The chiefs and elders had traveled from Nimba to Monrovia for a planned reconciliatory meeting, but Senator Kogar insisted that any such meeting should occur in Nimba county in line with traditional norms. MONROVIA, Liberia (Sept. 15, 2025) — The Press Union of Liberia (PUL) has set up a three-member committee to investigate an incident involving journalist Franklin Doloquee and Information Minister Jerolinmek M. Piah. The committee, chaired by veteran journalist Torwon Solunteh-Brown, also includes lawyer Bruce Boweh and civil society advocate Adama Kiatamba Dempster. The panel is expected to present its findings and recommendations to the PUL leadership by Sept. 19. Monrovia, Liberia — Montserrado County District #12 Representative Jerry Yogboh has issued a candid critique of the Liberian Legislature, acknowledging its failure to adequately perform its oversight and lawmaking duties. Speaking during a live appearance on a local radio station Tuesday, Rep. Yogboh described the legislative process as plagued by inefficiency and poor diligence.
