President Joseph N. Boakai, Sr., has reaffirmed his administrationโ€™s commitment to fighting corruption and recovering stolen public assets as he bid farewell to international forensic experts from FTI Consulting, who have completed a week-long initial assessment in Liberia.

President Boakai expressed gratitude for the ongoing process and encouraged the Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Taskforce (AREPT), led by Chairperson Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin, to ensure that all asset recovery efforts align with the law.

The international experts, led by FTI Consulting Senior Managing Director Andrew Durant, reaffirmed their commitment to working with AREPT in support of the presidentโ€™s anti-corruption agenda.

Thanking President Boakai for his support, they pledged to return for the next phase of their work.

During their time in Liberia, the experts, alongside AREPT Chairperson Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin, met with several institutions in line with the presidentโ€™s directive to strengthen collaboration in tracing and recovering assets.

These engagements included meetings with the Governance Commission, where they held discussions with Acting Chair Prof. Alaric K. Tokpah and Vice Chairperson Mrs. Sianneh S. Juah.

They also met with Liberiaโ€™s Auditor General Garswa Jackson, Sr., Justice Minister Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh, Police Inspector General Gregory O. W. Coleman, Finance and Development Planning Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, and officials of the Financial Intelligence Unit, among others.

During these meetings, all institutions reaffirmed their commitment to supporting AREPTโ€™s efforts in tracing and recovering assets acquired through illicit means.

They emphasized that the success of this initiative would directly benefit the Liberian people, particularly those affected by corruption and financial mismanagement.

The FTI Consulting experts are set to depart Liberia after engaging with key stakeholders.

Their visit marks a major step toward establishing a structured and transparent asset recovery process that aims to restore public trust in governance.
