About AREPT

The Asset Recovery and Property Retrieval Taskforce (AREPT) was established by His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai under Executive Orders 126 (2024) and 145 (2025), Liberia Penal Code, and international asset recovery frameworks.ย

AREPT operates on the principle that RECOVERED ASSETS ARE NATIONAL ASSETSโ€”critical for rebuilding infrastructure, restoring public services, and strengthening trust in governance.

Mission

To ensure transparency and justice by recovering public assets that were wrongfully acquired, and to deter future corruption through legal accountability.

Vision

To build a society where public funds are used for the good of all, not for personal gain โ€” and where the rule of law governs the management of public resources.

Mandate

AREPT is legally empowered to:

  1. Investigate & Trace
    • Identify stolen or suspicious public assets (fixed and liquid) within Liberia and abroad.ย
    • Probe corrupt acts by current and former government officials.
  2. Prosecute & Recover
    • Initiate criminal/civil litigation to reclaim assets on behalf of the Government of Liberia.ย
    • Enforce travel bans and restrictions on suspects.
  3. Collaborate
    • Partner with integrity institutions (LACC, GAC, Ministry of Justice etc.) and international bodies (Interpol, foreign governments).ย
    • forensic experts for complex asset-tracing.
  4. Educate
    • Lead public awareness campaigns on anti-corruption.ย
    • Host town halls to foster citizen participation.
  5. ย
